Prostrate cancer and its risks

Prostrate gland is located at the bottom of the urinary bladder surrounding the urethra. The Prostrate gland’s functions are in producing a part of the semen mixtures and in controlling urination. It does this by excreting pressure on the urine outlet i.e. the urethra. Without this a man has uncontrolled urination and infertility. The size of a normal prostrate gland is that of a around 5 cm in diameter and weighs around 30 gram. It does grow larger with age and can be as large as 10 cm in diameter. This is common and is normal process of aging and not in any way related to cancer. But the same enlargement of the prostrate gland takes place in the case of prostrate cancer. A over sized prostrate gland is caused because of uncontrolled growth of melanoma cells. This oversized gland stops producing the semen additives and also block urine production. This makes the process of urination more painful and quite frequent. The best person to distinguish between a normal prostrate gland and a cancer stricken prostrate gland. The symptoms are few and can last for years without causing any distinguishable problems. Some cancers are more aggressive and can also spread to other parts of the body. Areas such as lungs, bone marrow, liver, kidney, etc are under threat of getting cancer through this effected prostrate gland. This is the most common type of cancer found in men and around 30,000 men die around the world because of this cancer. It has varied prevalence among the different races. Hence proper precaution need to be taken and a proper biopsy at the right time can save from an imminent death from cancer. The biopsy sample is taken through the rectal route by a little cut in the anus wall. Treatments include surgery, cryotherapy, hormonal and radiation therapy are some of the treatment options available today.

Ear, Nose, and Throat Doctors

Ear, nose, and throat doctors are an important part of the medical industry these days, especially when it comes to helping patients with allergies. Ear, nose, and throat doctors provide their patients with a plethora of different services that help patients deal with the everyday challenges of allergies and their affect on the body. Allergies can be range from very minor to extremely severe. Minor allergies can cause sneezing, coughing, wheezing, bloodshot eyes and a runny nose while severe allergies can cause shortness of breathe, sinus infections, and even heart problems for some people. Patients affected by allergies who do not care for their body can wind up in the hospital hooked up to a breathing machine and IV medications.

Ear, nose, and throat doctors can help patients prevent the onslaught of allergic reactions or allergy attacks by issuing medication, breathing treatments, allergy shots and other treatments prior to something occurring. These doctors can prevent allergy attacks by performing a variety of tests on their patients that range from breathing to sticking needles in the patient’s back to determine what he or she is allergic to in the world. Allergies can be caused by plants, dust, pollen, animals and other items in the air where the patient lives.

Ear, nose, and throat doctors can typically be seen by patients once the patient receives a referral from their regular physician and it is submitted to the patient’s health care company and approved. Referrals typically take 24 hours to go through so an emergency visit to an ear, nose, and throat doctor might cost the patient a large sum of money out of pocket since it was not approved by the health care company ahead of time. Most ear, nose, and throat doctors in the country have degrees in more than one medical field.

E-Cigarettes: The Wave of the Future?

If you are one of the millions of people who love to smoke cigarettes but are constantly prevented in restaurants, bars, and other public areas from smoking, then you may be interested in learning about a new form of cigarettes called electronic cigarettes (also called e-cigarettes or an e-cig). These new types of cigarettes have a battery that delivers the tobacco in the form of vapor rather than smoke. The manufacturers claim that there is no possibility of second-hand smoke with electronic cigarettes.

The reason for so many regulations of cigarettes is the effect of second-hand smoke. It’s not fair for those who don’t smoke to inhale the smoke of those who do, which is as toxic if not more so than what the smoker is inhaling. Because of this, smoking has been banned in most public places and smokers are regulated on where they can smoke and how close to the entrance of buildings they can smoke. If it’s true that these new e-cigarettes do not put off any toxic substances into the air, it may be that they will be allowed indoors in the future.

Currently, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) believes that they fall into the same category as regular cigarettes. The main reason for this is likely that there have not been enough studies that prove that there are no side-effects of these e-cigarettes for those around smokers who use them. If enough studies are done in the future that prove electronic cigarettes are harmless to bystanders, it could be that they will legally be allowed to be used in public arenas.

For now, though, electronic cigarettes are a great way to save your friends and family from breathing in your second-hand smoke. Electronic cigarettes use rechargeable batteries and replaceable filters, so they can be used over and over. They also come in different cases, so you can choose one that fits your style.
